Billy Carrion Jr is a musician based in the New York area. He has been noted to have one of the best baritone saxophone sounds in today's modern era. He is also fluent on all other saxophones including bass saxophone, and also plays flute, eb flute, bass clarinet, clarinet, contra-alto clarinet, and contra-bass clarinet.
Son of the salsa singer William "Billy" Carrion, and nephew to the trumpet player/singer Jerry Medina, their influences on Billy are nothing short of incredible.
Now at age 22, Billy is currently working on his debut album with his group "Basaña," which includes himself on baritone saxophone and woodwinds, Abel Sanchez Jr on piano/keyboards, Jay "El Gringo" Tyree on electric bass, Juan Carlos Mendoza on Drumset +, and Ben Guadalupe on congas. The album, "Controlled Psychopathism without meds" has a release date sometime around February '07.
