New York native, Miami-based DJ/Producer George Morel has earned worldwide recognition spreading his unique blend of House music in legendary nightclubs all around the world.
Currently, he maintains European residencies in Germany and Switzerland. Morel's longest standing gig is eight consecutive years at the infamous Love Parade in Berlin and in 2003 he even mixed the official Love Parade CD Compilation. He has also participated in several DJ tours worldwide including Air Rave which featured a chartered plane from Germany to Greece, making George the only DJ that has ever played on a plane; Reebok DJ Tour, Pushkin Vodka DJ Tour, Rock In Rio (Brazil), Street Parade and Ministry of Sound in Germany.
During the summer of 2003, he was invited to headline Wednesday nights at Privilege, Ibiza. The nights – dubbed Groove On Nights – developed into an overnight success becoming the third best night for the club following the infamous Manumission and the very popular Balearic People. Talks are already underway for the second installment of the Groove On Nights next year.
By combining his musical experience and savvy business knowledge, George formed Groove On Productions, Inc., under which he heads two labels: Groove On Music and Sound Ritual, which he founded with partner DJ Shawn Rudnick. Groove On Music's first record, Mendo's "Tell Me", hit number one on the UK Buzz Chart in 2002.
George has worked with such renowned artists and writers as Barbara Tucker, Ben Grassini, Gay Joy and Alan T., and continues to produce his highly successful compilations George Morel In The Mix Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4 (More Music), The Mix Le Queen In Paris (Polydor Records), Mega Mix (Strictly Rhythm) and George Morel, The Miami House Mix (UCMG).
Morel had his first experience with turntables at age thirteen playing at neighborhood parties in his native New York. Later on, he became a regular at some of New York's most notorious nightspots such as Red Zone, Save the Robots and Palladium. These experiences led to his first production in 1989, with the late David Cole of C C Music Factory, "Our Love Is Over" (featuring Dee Halloway). In 1990, he produced 2 In A Room's "Wiggle It", which became an overnight global success. That same year, Morel began full-time collaboration with C C Music Factory working on productions, arrangements and edits with Mariah Carey and Lisa Lisa. These partnerships led to four gold records and one platinum record within two years.
In 1992, Morel became the Vice President of A and R at Strictly Rhythm. At which time, he also took on the position of "in-house" Producer and Writer for the label. During his seven years at Strictly Rhythm, he worked with producers and artists such as DJ Pierre, Erick Morillo, CeCe Rogers, Roland Clark, Martha Wash and Cookie Watkins, as well as many other producers and recording artists. Morel's hard work and dedication was celebrated with several Billboard Music Awards and another gold record.
Morel's passion for music continues to be demonstrated in his work on production, deejaying and through his company.
