MAMA GOT FIVE is a pop rock band from Toulouse, France. MAMA GOT FIVE is composed of three brothers, who all play and sing : Phil, Mama's first, plays the bass ; John, Mama's second, plays the guitar ; Joe, Mama's third, plays drums. Why do they call themselves MAMA GOT FIVE ? Phils, Johns and Joes mother had 5 boys ; the three eldests started this pop band in 2000. They write strong and original songs, supported by an up-to-date sound. The three brothers have been playing music together since their early days. They recorded their first studio CD in 5 days; this 5 tracks CD was released in early 2001. Best seller among auto produced records at the FNAC records shop in Toulouse, it was received with strong enthusiasm from many national and local radios. All five songs were played as « Our Choice Song » and entered the daily program planning of many local radios. It was a fresh, melodic and lively music,and it had a strong impact on Mama Got Fives audiences through the many concerts they played in many different clubs and festivals (particularly at the Bikini Club, biggest rock venue in Toulouse). In October 2001, MAMA GOT FIVE played a successful show at the FORUM FNAC (records shop) in Toulouse, then appeared in their first TV show in November 2001. National radio « Le Mouv » aired Mama Got Five music while the band played many gigs through southern France. In May 2002, MAMA GOT FIVE got rank 11 for a « XXX de France » (30 radios network in France and Canada) classification (according to the number of broadcasts). In August 2002, they played in front of 3000 people at the « Riff Mania » Festival for charity association « Les Restos du Coeur ». In November 2002, Mama Got Fives 5 titles CD started to be distributed by the Musicast company. Over 2002-2003, Mama Got Five played in many Toulouse clubs and around. In May 2003, they appeared on their 2nd TV show. During the summer of 2003, the band played in several festivals and toured on the French seaside, playing before large audiences. In September 2003, they were headliners of the "Combines à Sons" festival (in the roman arena in Toulouse). In the beginning of 2004, the distribution of the first CD of Mama Got Five was extended (this record is now sold out). On April 22nd 2004, Mama Got Five played again at the FNAC records shop in Toulouse. In 2005, Mama Got Five recorded a 12 tracks album at the famous Condorcet Studio in Toulouse. At the end of 2005, after listening to their album, Mama Got Five were invited to play at the Cavern Club in Liverpool and also to play in Los Angeles, for the International Pop Overthrow (IPO) festival in 2006. The « Shine On » song was programmed as an opening to the «This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio .. 341 » radio show (USA) on 12th November 2005 ; the band was rated as terrific. At the beginning of 2006, this radio show played MAMA GOT FIVE several times again (« Shine On » and « Uh Lah Lah » songs). The MAMA GOT FIVE played their first UK tour in may 2006, starting and ending at the Cavern Club ! In July, the band was added on the Reptor Productions (UK) website and web broadcast rotations. In August the band played several LA clubs (The Joint, The Knitting Factory) for the IPO LA festival. The same month, "Shine On" appeared on the 9th annual IPO compilation, issued on Not Lame Records. By the end of the summer, the band's music was played on several radio or web broadcasts in the UK, Spain, Canada, France and the US. End 2006 and beginning of 2007 was dedicated to writing new songs and recording new demos. In February 2007, the Mama Got Five hit Spain for the first time (Madrid Clubs Tour) : packed clubs and very warm welcome from the spanish fans. Mama Got Five join the El Hood community (www.elhood.com/mamagotfive) and win the "Pop" weekly contest twice in January 2007 (based on the fans votes) with "Shine On" while "Baby Doll" continuously reaches rank 2 or 3 in the "Rock" category. The MAMA GOT FIVE will be back to Liverpool for the IPO Liverpool 2007 festival, playing the Cavern Club again, then the Lennon's Pub, on May 26th.
