Biography
Nancys Rubias is a Spanish pop group that formed in 2005. Nancy Anoréxica (Anorexic Nancy,) Nancy O, Verdadera Nancy Rubia (True Blond Nancy,) Nancy Travesti (Transvestite) and Nancy Reagan are the names of the members of this new band that defines themselves as the "first self-prefabricated group of Spanish pop." They adore artists who, in addition to being musical icons, have been aesthetic icons; and because of this, they count from people like Diana Ross, David Bowie or Siouxsie, to the Ramones, the Pet Shop Boys, and the Village People among their references and influences. Their story began when this group of friends, both men and women, (all residents of Madrid with the exception of Nancy Travesti, who lives in Barcelona) decided to form a band. From there they recorded four songs and opened for Fangoria in a concert at the last Gay Pride day. Someone from the DRO label was there and proposed that they record an album, they decided to put Nacho Canut in charge of the words, give the music to his brother, Mario Canut and the production to Juan Carlos Moreno.
At all times, without having stupid and uncomfortable prejudices, Nancy Rubias vindicate their lack of knowledge with respect to the instruments that they refer to and consider themselves the first self-prefabricated group in Spanish pop; meaning that they themselves chose their producer, arrangers, songwriters and musicians, telling them the sound that they want on every song.
